Whilst at University he sang and played in local folk clubs plus wrote and performed in musical comedy ‘revue’ sketches. He went on to front his rock band, before eventually releasing a couple of albums of his own songs: ‘Bending The Rules’, in 1998, under the banner of The Thursday Night Club’ and ‘Penguins in the Desert’ as ‘Dave Whittle’ in 2005. A folk single/EP called 'ROW' was released in 2021 and a re-working of the ‘Bending The Rules’ album (with extra new songs), entitled ‘GET A GRIP!’, was released in 2022. His latest venture was to publish a children’s picture book, PIRATE’S RULE OKAY! via Amazon (Dec.2023) and there is an accompanying songbook, with 12 songs released on most of the major digital streaming platforms – more details available via http://www.piratesruleok.com Dave has always loved harmonizing and along the way has sung in many award-winning barbershop choruses and quartets, mainly singing bass but also baritone and tenor. In 2010, he started his first multi-tracking venture ‘CHOIR OF DAVE’, singing Eric Whitacre’s 9-part arrangement of Lux Aurumque and has produced many more vocal projects since – all are available for viewing on the Dave Whittle YouTube channel as well as the ‘Choir of Dave’ Facebook Page. The esteemed arranger, Alexander L’Estrange was commissioned to arrange Sting’s FRAGILE for Choir of Dave & this is also up on YouTube - it is/was rather poignant, as it was arranged and released during the pandemic years. Over the years, Dave has invited special guest singers to join with his choir of Daves and has enjoyed his own a cappella arranging of various genres of music – from the ‘folk’ of Skye Boat Song’ to the ‘pop’ and ‘rock’ of Maroon 5, Pendulum, Nik Kershaw and Fleetwood Mac numbers. Other collaborations have included other members of CHAPTER SIX and as ‘the only Brit.’, he is thrilled to be in this talented, international ‘virtual group’ ensemble! |
